Throughout their lifespan as a band, The Lone Bellow have cast an indelible spell with their finespun songs of hard truth and unexpected beauty, frequently delivered in hypnotic three-part harmony. In a departure from their past work with elite producers like Aaron Dessner of The National and eight-time Grammy-winner Dave Cobb, the Nashville-based trio struck out on their own for their new album Love Songs for Losers, dreaming up a singular sound encompassing everything from arena-ready rock anthems to the gorgeously sprawling Americana tunes the band refers to as “little redneck symphonies.” Recorded at the possibly haunted former home of the legendary Roy Orbison, the result is an intimate meditation on the pain and joy and ineffable wonder of being human, at turns heartbreaking, irreverent, and sublimely transcendent.

lyrics
Don’t wanna watch the wonder leave you
The spark die in your eye
Tell yourself it’s too late anyhow
What's the use of tryin’
Don’t wanna watch the worry take you
See you reaching for your phone
Looking for a better place in time
A place that feels like home
I want to see you move
I want to see you dance
I want to hear the shackles fall
Watch you take another chance
I want to see you sweep somebody off their feet
Like the way you were made to be
I want to see you move
I want to see you move
It’s been a minute since I’ve seen you
Now we’re toasting to a friend
You congratulate and celebrate
But you’re still on the mend
I want to see you move
I want to see you dance
I want to hear the shackles fall
Watch you take another chance
I want to see you sweep somebody off their feet
Like the way you were made to be
I want to see you move
I want to see you sweep somebody off their feet
Like the way you did with me
I want to see you move
I want to see you dance
I want to hear the shackles fall
Watch you take another chance
I want to see you sweep somebody off their feet
Like the way you were made to be
I want to see you move
I want to see you move
1st time i heard DeathWish, i turned it off.
felt rushed, not the Isbell i've come to admire. really grab'd me when i took time to listen on the 2nd try. the writing on these songs stopped me in my tracks more than once. raw talent with just enough polish in the delivery.
thankyou Jason + 400 for another keeper swirlingmadness
The instrumentation and songwriting in this album is really top-tier. Aofie is one of my favorite folk/alt-country artists and she performs wonderfully, bringing her unique tone of voice to this project. This album was my first step into Aofie's artistry, and is firmly one of my favorite albums. rileyridgway
The Alabama duo's fifth album exults in dusty Americana, showcasing rich vocal harmonies alongside blissful folk instrumentation. Bandcamp New & Notable Mar 31, 2024
I just started listening to this album today and am IN LOVE! Every track is perfect.
I'm slightly sad I didn't start listening to boygenius until but happy to be a fan of their music <3 lissie_a
